The peak season for Alaskan cruises is May through September. Alaska has a short visitor season and during the peak summer months it's more difficult to find the cruise you want. Remember to reserve your space early, especially if you plan on visiting the more popular locations such as Denali Park.

In September, you can see all Alaska has to offer. By Labor Day the fall colors are in full bloom and the tall mountain ranges will still have fresh snow on its peaks.

There is a wide variety of activities available on the ship itself, including basketball, putting greens, volleyball, swimming and golf simulators. There are some great land excursions available and plenty to see. You can take a float plane trip to Misty Fjords National Monument in Ketchikan, or helicopter dog sled tours of glaciers in Juneau. The underwater tour in a semi-submersible ship in Sitka is a unique experience. In Skagway, a trip on the White Pass Railroad in Yukon Territory has beautiful scenery.
