Oregon coast yurt rental

The state of Oregon lays claim to popularizing "Yurts."  It's not a new form of yogurt, nor is it the latest Pokeman-type craze. A "Yurt" is a fast-growing national phenomenon in the public camping scene. It's round, filled with comfy furniture and pointy on the top. Yurts can be described as a circular domed tent with a plywood floor, electricity and a framed-in lockable wooden door for privacy and security. A yurt combines the security of a structure with the informality of camping. They generally measure 16 feet in diameter and have a 20 foot-high ceiling.

Obviously, a yurt will be less expensive to rent than a cabin, usually around $30 a night. A yurt sleeps five and usually includes a futon sofa and a single/double bunk bed. Many yurts include an outdoor fire pit and picnic table. You have working lights, heat, a venting skylight and a locking door. You simply bring bedding, food, dishes - all the basic camping gear you normally take - except a tent, of course.
Yurts are available year round at most parks. You aren't allowed to cook, smoke or house pets in most yurts, although South Beach is the one pet exception. Coastal parks with yurts available for rent include Beachside, Beverly Beach, Bullards Beach, Cape Lookout, Devil's Lake, Fort Stevens, Harris Beach, Honeyman, Nehalem Bay, South Beach, Sunset Bay, Tugman, Umpqua Lighthouse and Washburne.
Inland parks with yurts available for rent include Champoeg, Tumalo, Valley of the Rogue and Wallowa Lake.
