Road trip vacation planning

There comes a point and time when we all decide to take a vacation. However, not all of us are thrilled to take the easy way out (such as traveling by air). Instead, you have decided to take a road trip. Whether it be with your kids, friends, or even your co-workers. There is always a right and wrong way to planning a road trip vacation.

First and foremost when taking on road trip vacation planning. You should always know who you plan on bringing with you! Without knowing this important part in the road trip, you won’t know how large of a vehicle you will need to be driving! Chances are you will be road-tripping with your closest of kin or best of friends. Of whom should always be involved in the planning!

Take a couple of nights to plan out your road trip vacation. Getting all of the participants together in one room (maybe even make it a pizza party!). With a map of the United States (or a map of your home-town), you will then begin to map out the rout that you plan to take. Planning each stop or sites you wish to see along the way. Which will help to keep your road trip vacation going without a hitch. You will need to budget for your road trip. Whether it be for gas, eating out, and for possible mishaps that may happen along the way.

If you are bringing children along with you (especially young children) you will want to bring a few comfortable items along with you. Many young children can become stressed during the length of a road trip. For this reason, you should allow them to bring some of their favorite items. Whether it be movies, coloring books, pillows, or even video games. Which will all help to keep your children attuned to the fun of a road trip vacation, rather than some of the stress that can come with it.

Before you leave for your road trip, you should always check your vehicle for any safety issues. Nothing can hamper your perfect road trip like having to spend your funds on repairing your car! Check everything! Lights, signals, wipers, horn, radio, fluid levels (this step should be done at EVERY stop you take), filters, belts, hoses, and filters. Along with the fluid levels, your tire’s air levels should also be checked at every stop. Especially since road trips can be hard on vehicles. Making sure to keep a spare tire available (not a doughnut) since you may find yourself miles away from a city.
